The role – Te mahi
We have an exciting opportunity for a library/information professional to join the University of Otago Library, based in Dunedin. Reporting to a Library Divisional Manager, the Subject Librarian provides in-depth assistance and support to the University community across teaching, learning and research.
In this role, you will contribute to the development, evaluation and improvement of library services based on the needs of academic departments and programmes. This includes working closely with supervisors and research students to build an understanding of current and future learning, teaching and research needs. You will participate in innovative strategies to improve library services and support learning opportunities.
We’re looking for someone who’s enthusiastic, curious and innovative, who thrives on using their sound knowledge of library or archival systems and standards.
Your skills and experience – Kā pūkeka me kā wheako
You will have relevant qualifications and experience in librarianship and experience in supporting information skills programs. A strong understanding of scholarly communication and open scholarship is desirable.
You will:
- have highly developed interpersonal communication skills
- have a professional, service-oriented approach, engaging with students and staff to deliver quality information services
- thrive working both independently and collaboratively in a team environment and always exercise sound judgement
- be a natural problem solver, technology-savvy, a master at time management and able to meet competing priorities.

This is a permanent, full-time (37.5 hours per week) role working within the Information Services unit based in Dunedin.
The appointment range is $73,073 to $77,780 per annum. Top of range is $85,749.
