Research Services Librarian

Mō te tūranga | About the position

 

This role focuses on providing outstanding research and heritage information services.

 

Key responsibilities include curating and managing resources to enhance the customer experience, as well as supporting the development, preservation, and accessibility of local heritage and other collections in both physical and digital formats.

 

You’ll recognise the importance of the role as a Treaty partner and understand how that underpins Gisborne District Council’s work.

 

Ngā Mahi ngā Takohanga Matua rānei | Duties include:

 

  • Care and management of special collections.
  • Recommend purchase and decommissioning of materials for Reference Service collections.
  • Ensure archival maintenance, preservation and security of Reference Service collections is upheld to a high standard.
  • To ensure a culture of excellent internal and external customer service and customer satisfaction.
  • To prepare timely and sufficiently informative reports and statistical data for the Library Service Leader as required in respect to work programme delivery and new issues/opportunities.

Ngā Pūkenga me Ngā Wheako e Hiahia ana | Skills and experience required:

 

  • NZ Diploma in Library and Information Studies (L5) or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years in library field.
  • Sound skills using Microsoft Office suite.
  • Excellent research capabilities.
  • People management skills relatable to all age groups.
  • Strong written and verbal presentation skills.
  • Excellent problem solving, communication, time management and interpersonal skills.
