The MOTAT Society and Walsh Memorial Library is thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for a Student or recent Graduate to complete an internship. The Oriel Bickerton Internship is dedicated to Oriel Bickerton who was a prominent figure in the Victorian Village and the Textile collection in the early days of MOTAT. She dedicated over 25 years of her life to working in the Village at MOTAT and saw The Walsh Memorial Library house an extensive collection of material reflecting the MOTAT collection. It includes published, archival, documentary heritage, pictorial, and oral history collections
ROLE OVERVIEW
As the Oriel Bickerton Intern in the Library & Archives you will work on the rehousing and accurate recording of the Ephemera and Manuscript collection. This project-based role will focus on sorting, rehousing and recording accurately a section of donated material. Within the project you will sort the collection to confirm it belongs to the Ephemera & Manuscript collection and put the newly documented collection into appropriate storage, based on its condition.
ABOUT YOU
You will bring your taught knowledge from your current or recently completed degree. This would be a Bachelor’s degree completed recently or to currently be working towards masters in Library & Information Studies, Museum Studies, or equivalent related qualification. Having experience handling collection items and using a system such as Vernon is a bonus!
WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU
