- Supporting our community
- Lower Hutt Based
About Us
At Hutt City Council our vision is to build a connected, resilient and inclusive city where all of our people thrive – Kia noho mai tēnei tāone hei pou herenga waka, hei pou herenga kaupapa, hei wāhi whai hua ki hōna iwi.
Our Neighbourhood Hubs & Library Services group works with the community to realise its full potential. Maintaining active and vibrant networks, both within Council and across our shared spaces, our Neighbourhood Hubs & Library Services, part of the wider Neighbourhoods and Communities Unit, aims to enhance the impact of our collective efforts for the communities we serve.
About the role
We are looking for a Site Lead | Pou Whakahaere to lead our team of library and hub staff based at Wainuiomata (Neighbourhood Hub).
We are moving from predominately library-focused services into a community hub. While library collections are still an important part of what we do, we’re aiming to work with our community to offer a wider range of services, programmes and activities so that our space is utilised for an even bigger purpose.
This role will work closely with Pou Whakahaere based at other sites and with our community to ensure that the work of Hutt City Council reflects what the community wants.
About You
We are looking for someone who believes in the success of community-led development and is a real advocate for continuous improvement. Are you passionate about building connections within diverse communities? In this role, you’ll focus on fostering community ties by networking and creating inclusive spaces at our hub. Flexibility is essential, as this position may require you to work outside of regular hours or on weekends. If you’re dedicated to making a positive impact and connecting with our vibrant community, we want to hear from you!
You will be a confident leader who is able to share your and Council’s vision for our community with your team and inspire them to work together in achieving and growing that vision. You’ll have a natural ability to work effectively alongside your Council colleagues, wider management, external organisations and community groups. Working to enable the community to thrive will be at the forefront of every thought, idea and initiative you bring to the table.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced leader seeking a more varied workload of managing people and being involved in Council wide projects. We ultimately want to enhance accessibility to our hubs and library services, and we need you to help us!
We’re committed to providing a working environment that embraces, values and reflects the diversity of the community we serve.
We recognise rewarding you is not only about your pay, so we’ve outlined some of the great benefits that may be available to you as an employee of Hutt City Council. Read more about them here: https://careers.huttcity.govt.nz/your-total-rewards
