NETSAFE RESOURCES AND NETSAFETY WEEK 2026
This email is sent in support of Netsafe’s mahi helping New Zealander's safely navigate the digital world.
Netsafe recognise the important role library and information services play as trusted community sites - supporting people of all ages to safely access and navigate the digital world.
Netsafe is excited to announce that they are launching a free, library-inspired Digital Guardians Guide platform in May - offering practical, everyday support for navigating digital life. As you’ll likely be aware, many parents, caregivers and whānau are finding it increasingly difficult to keep up with online spaces and support the young people in their care.
DIGITAL GUARDIAN GUIDE
The Digital Guardian Guide is here to support you and your whānau to have safe, confident and positive online experiences.
From setting boundaries and managing devices, to preparing for digital milestones and handling online challenges.
Use this guide to learn, to connect, and to have the conversations that matter in your whānau.
TAKE PART IN NET SAFETY WEEK 17-23 AUGUST
Netsafe are also inviting your library to take part in Netsafety Week (17–23 August 2026). This year’s theme, Online Safety is a Team Sport – Play Your Part, highlights the role we all have in creating safer online spaces. Library and information services can get involved by sharing resources, hosting a small session, or creating a display.
There’ll also be a display competition with prizes! Resources are also available for Net Safety Week.
If you’d like to receive a resource pack or get involved, please fill in this short form and Netsafe will be in touch.
