Library and information professionals bring critical expertise in information evaluation, governance, and AI literacy. These skills are essential for building trust, empowering communities, and ensuring AI is used ethically and responsibly.

This initiative responds directly to member demand for guidance and support, and positions the library and information sector as credible, people-centred leaders in the responsible use of AI.
JOINING THE NEW STANDING COMMITTEE
Chaired by Erin Cairney, an experienced information professional with 20+ years in law and legal tech, the committee will highlight the sector’s unique strengths in trusted information stewardship and ethical governance, and community empowerment.
Up to eight members are sought for the new committee to reflect the diversity of the sector, with an active focus on exploring AI tools in their work. Some members will be chosen because of their recognised expertise in AI or related fields, but the committee also welcomes members who have practical experience and are keen to share and expand their skills.
Applicants must be current LIANZA personal members or staff at a current LIANZA member institution. Please complete the expression of interest form below by September 12 if you are interested in being considered.
