LIANZA endorse Te Paea Paringatai’s IFLA presidency nomination

“Libraries hold the power to transform lives and strengthen communities. With your support, I am confident we can work together to lead IFLA into an exciting and impactful future,” says IFLA President-elect nominee Te Paea Paringatai.

 

Well-known to the library and information community in Aotearoa, Te Paea will be standing for the IFLA President-elect role for 2025-2027. Te Paea is an Honorary Member of Te Rōpū Whakahau and a Fellow of LIANZA. She has served as president of both national associations and is a recipient of the Meri Mygind Wahine Toa Leadership Award from Te Rōpū Whakahau.

Te Paea is currently a director at the Te Tari Taiwhenua Department of Internal Affairs. She served as adjunct faculty, teaching library and information studies at The Open Polytechnic and is currently in her second year of doctoral research at the University of Otago.

 

Te Paea’s leadership experience extends to her previous role as a commissioner on the Libraries and Information Advisory Commission LIAC. She is a Justice of the Peace.

 

An active contributor to IFLA since 2012, Te Paea currently serves as chair of the Professional Council, where she strengthens IFLA’s professional networks and ensures operational sustainability. She is also a member of the Governing Board, contributing to strategic decision-making and financial oversight, and chairs the IFLA Code of Conduct for Volunteers Working Group.
