Join the conversation on using Te Tōtara Workforce Capability

Join Te Tōtara Community of Practice

Te Tōtara Community of Practice was set up as a forum for library and information staff in Aotearoa to engage and share their experience implementing Te Tōtara and other workforce capability programmes, promote best practices and share resources.

The CoP is also a space for those wanting to find out more about Te Tōtara framework and how to use the supporting resources for themselves or with their teams. The CoP meet regularly online.

We encourage you, your peers, teams and learning and development kaimahi to take a look at the refreshed Te Tōtara workforce capability page on our website. It takes you on an individual, team or strategic journey at the organisation level.

Members of the Community of Practice and those using Te Tōtara share their experiences on the website so you can learn from their experiences.
  • “Ko au te awa, ko te awa ko au” Jasmin Ratana discusses adapting the Te Totara Workforce Capability Framework for the Whanganui District Library team and their new Te Waka Hou framework.
  • “A critical point for me was to develop a business-as-usual development culture. It means that staff could start seeing work in libraries not just as a job, but as a career.” – Sarah Corbet, Hamilton City Libraries
  • “Consistency and sustainability can be challenging when different team leads go in different directions. Organisational sustainability is important to build into the system long-term.” – Diego Pedrioli, Kāpiti Coast District Libraries

TOP TIP – Create your action plan using the Taku Tōtara interactive workbook or, if short on time, use the interactive Pātōtara worksheet.
