INTERNATIONAL FEDERATION OF LIBRARY ASSOCIATIONS (IFLA)
LIANZA is a member of the International Federation of Library Representatives
An increasing number of New Zealand library and information professionals have recently been voted onto the following IFLA sections;
National Libraries Section, Asia and Oceania Section, Library Buildings and Equipment Section, Library Services to Multicultural Populations Section, Literacy and Reading Section, Management and Marketing Section and Indigenous Section.
LIANZA members are able to access IFLA member benefits such as discounted international conference rates.
As members of IFLA, LIANZA publicises IFLA projects and initiatives and promotes the IFLA World Library and Information Congress.
VALA – LIBRARIES, TECHNOLOGY & THE FUTURE INC
LIANZA and VALA have a Memorandum of Understanding with the mutual goals of encouraging collaboration in the library and information sector, and supporting the professional development of library and information professionals.
AMERICAN LIBRARY ASSOCIATION (ALA)
LIANZA is an afilliated member of the American Library Association (ALA).
This provides us with a few benefits such as complimentary registrations to the ALA annual and mid-winter meetings but the key benefit is the opportunity to interact with other associations through the ALA affiliates list.
We work closely with the Australian Library and Information Association. LIANZA and ALIA have a Memorandum of Understanding and offer member rates to each other's events including conferences and training seminars. Check out ALIA courses and workshops.
Our Executive Director, communicates with the ALIA CEO on a regular basis to share projects, plans and concerns.
In 2018 LIANZA and ALIA partnered with the Library Association of Singapore to offer the first joint conference since 1994. The Asia-Pacific Library and Information Conference took place on 30 July - 2 August 2018 on the Gold Coast of Australia.
