IPU New Zealand is a private tertiary institution situated on an attractive campus of 21.5 hectares on the outskirts of Palmerston North, established in 1990. All undergraduate and postgraduate programmes are fully accredited by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA).
We are seeking an experienced and qualified librarian to be our Head Librarian at the IPU New Zealand Library. This is a permanent, 40 hours a week position and you will be part of the IPU Leadership Team.
Key responsibilities include the management of the library and IPU archives, including Accessit (the library management system), plus the selection, cataloguing and management of the physical and digital resources. You will be leading the library staff and forming effective and supportive relationships with teaching staff. You will be responsible for developing and providing library education sessions for students, liaising with teaching staff to ascertain requirements. Monitoring budgets and preparing monthly reports will also be part of the role.
The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, have a strong organisational focus and possess a positive and respectful
manner. Ideally, you will have a high level of digital literacy and have had previous experience in an academic or educational library. A degree and professional library qualifications are essential for the role, with at least three years’ experience as a librarian.
