LIANZA Children & Youth Services Network 2025

March 11 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm NZDT

LIANZA offers a time and space for children and youth service librarians and library staff to connect in a peer-to-peer network. This network supports anyone from within the profession engaging with children, youth, parents and whānau.

We invite you to jump online on the second Tuesday of the month to share your ideas, experiences and questions with your CYS colleagues across Aotearoa. From working in partnership with early childhood centres and schools, class visits, engaging teens, holiday programmes, summer reading, use of te reo Māori and sign language in programming – there’s lots to discuss. We have had some marvellous presentations and discussions – let the good work continue.

March 11 – Teen Subscription Boxes – What are they and should your library start offering one?

Teens! Every library has them, but they don’t always engage with staff. But all teens love free stuff –and food. So, a subscription-style box may help get them engaged.

In this session, Hana Whaanga, with support from Library Li, will explain what teen sub-boxes are and why Hastings District Libraries started them. Join this webinar to learn what led to starting teen sub-boxes, how they got going, how it’s running now and what they’ve learned.

Bring your discussion points for this session on the perennial issue of engaging teens in library spaces and collections. Hana and Li are Learning & Discovery Librarians at Hastings District Libraries.

If there is a topic you’d like to discuss or you can help with one of the sessions below please contact Angie: comms@lianza.org.nz.

These sessions are NOT recorded.
