Branch Library Manager – Frankton

We have a fantastic opportunity to join our Libraries team as Branch Library Manager for our Frankton and Kingston libraries. What you’ll be doing

You’ll be responsible for the day to day operations, service delivery and facilities management of the Frankton and Kingston libraries. In supporting the development and management of community partnerships and strategic projects you’ll be creating a welcoming, inclusive space that delivers on its goal of positive customer experiences.

The role will involve:

  • Employee management including performance development, recruitment, and training
  • Creating and maintaining an engaged workforce
  • Overseeing the delivery of high quality services across all areas of the libraries
  • Managing facilities and working closely with our property and knowledge management teams
  • Leading and implementing strategic plans and special projects
  • Championing the use of Te Reo Māori in the library environment and working closely with mana whenua to ensure Te Ao Māori is considered in all aspects of services

What you’ll bring to the role

You’ll have a number of years experience working within a library environment and will be passionate about creating safe, welcoming, and engaging environments for our communities. You’ll have experience working with a range of external groups including educational organisations, government agencies, social service agencies, as well as various other community groups. Your strong stakeholder management skills will serve you well.

You’ll be a successful people leader, with the ability to relate well to a wide range of people. You’ll enjoy working closely with your teams to get the best out of them.

To best succeed in this role, you’ll have:

  • Strong strategic thinking skills with the ability to look at the bigger picture
  • Experience with budget management and reporting
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
  • Experience with process improvement and identifying risk areas
