Welcome to 2010, the centenary year of LIANZA! Throughout this year there will be many opportunities to participate and share in activities. There are national events planned - watch out for a mid-winter centenary quiz- culminating in the LIANZA conference in Dunedin in November. Regions will be actively hosting local events where new librarians can actually get to meet famous names from the past. We will be launching our new website at the end of February/end of March. We will be asking for photos and anecdotes to add to our timeline and blog. See the full list of planned events later in this issue.

Christmas holidays now seem long past, January has flown by, and we're well into 2010. I'm particularly excited about 2010 being the 100th anniversary of LIANZA. Often we are reluctant to celebrate our successes, and the 100th anniversary is the perfect time to reflect on our achievements. I encourage all of you to celebrate not only LIANZA, but also your own achievements this year. A huge amount of good work goes on, often largely unnoticed. Make it a year to recognise your colleagues and yourself - perhaps this could be the year that you finally apply for that Associateship?
