Library Associations in Aotearoa New Zealand
While LIANZA is the oldest library and information association in Aotearoa New Zealand, there are others that we work with to ensure the future of the sector. We're committed to supporting the work of these other important associations and appreciate pursuing collaborations and common goals.
LIANZA works very closely with Public Libraries of New Zealand (formerly the Association of Public Library Managers) - so much so that we share the same office space in Wellington! Our Executive Committees catch up as frequently as time allows, and we endeavour to complement each other's activities in order to extend the reach of our budgets. For instance, Public Libraries of New Zealand recently worked with us on developing the public library messages for our Brand Libraries campaign.
The School Library Association of New Zealand Aotearoa (SLANZA) and LIANZA have a memorandum of understanding in place, and have worked closely together since SLANZA's inception in 2000. Up until 2009 a LIANZA representative sat on the SLANZA Council. We have semi-regular meetings with the SLANZA Executive Committee and keep them informed about the LIANZA projects underway that may be of interest. Both LIANZA and SLANZA support one another's conferences.
