News Room2009 LIANZA Council Election Results
23 April 2009LIANZA's Executive Director, Alli Smith, as Returning Officer, announced today the results of the 2009 Council elections. "I am very pleased to announced that current Vice-President, Barbara Garriock has been elected unopposed to the position of President" Alli says. Barbara is currently the Library Manager at Manukau Institute of Technology. Barbara is a Fellow of LIANZA, has been chair of the Credentials Committee and the EPIC Governance Group, and has served twice on the LIANZA Council. Also elected unopposed to the LIANZA Council is Steve Graves, Treasurer. The newly elected Councillors for the seats representing Hikuwai and Te Upoko o te Ika a Maui are Kim Taunga, Library Services Manager a Papakura Public Library and Laurinda Thomas, Knowledge Advisor for MORST respectively. Two nominations were received for the position of Vice President for Paddy Plunket and Carolyn Robertson and also for Councillor for the Aoraki Region for Erin Kimber and Nicki Moen meaning an election will be held for these positions. Voting papers for Vice President will be emailed to all members and voting papers for the Aoraki Councillor will be emailed to members of the Aoraki Region on Monday 27 April with the elections closing 5pm on Monday 11th May 2009. If you don't receiving a voting paper by the end of play Monday, please contact me by email. It may be that we don't have your current email address. We will identify any members who don't have an email and post election papers to them.
