23 June 2008Library Week 2008 - What's Your Story? Nou te kōrero
The Library Week Committee is very excited about this New Zealand title published in April this year by Scholastic NZ. Piggity-Wiggity Jiggity Jig was a long sort of name for a short sort of pig. When Piggity-Wiggity complains to his dad about the length of his name, Dad explains that he and his wife felt that their large family of four boys and four girls was missing something. When Piggity-Wiggity came along, they were so delighted that they wanted to give him an extra-special, musical, heroic sort of name. Piggity-Wiggity goes to sleep well satisfied with the explanation for his extraordinary name. Piggity-Wiggity is a wonderful read-aloud rhyme and rhythm story that trips off the tongue with fun language and sophisticated vocabulary. There is already a second Piggity-Wiggity title in production. If you don't already have a copy of this book in your library please make sure you grab a copy in the next few weeks so your library can take part in the NZ's Biggest Storytime 2008!! NZ's Biggest Storytime is usually quite a popular event with the media especially if you have somebody well known reading the story. So start thinking about someone fun and charismatic in your community and invite them to read the story at your library! Don't forget to send a press release or letter of invitation to your local media closer to the time. The Library Week website will be up and running shortly with downloads and information. We hope to have materials mailed to you mid July. For further information about Library Week 2008. Megan Mathieson
