Election Results for the Waikato Bay of Plenty Region Councillor

In 2008 two nominations were received for the Waikato Bay of Plenty Region and as a result of the voting, LIANZA is pleased to announce the appointment of Carol Spanhake as Councillor for the region.

Carol Spanhake's current position is Coordinator: Library Services at Whakatane District Council. Carol has been a regional committee member and regional Chair and feels it is a natural progression to take this next step as regional councillor.

Carol has mentored library students and librarians for several years and has organised and promoted professional development activities within the Waikato/BOP area as a regional [Eastern Bay of Plenty] representative. Carol has been a regular contributor to Branchlines, Library Life and weekend schools.

Carol values continuing professional development and mentoring and is particularly keen to see the work, education and pay of librarians recognised as professional.
