In 1999, the National Library of New Zealand received a bequest from the estate of the late Miss Jean Wright.  She stated that the bequest was to be used for furthering the library education and training of librarians of those public libraries serving communities in New Zealand with populations of not more than 15,000 persons each as at the date of the last census.  The libraries in which applicants work must be supported financially by the local authority.  The National Library intends to make a grant or grants from the fund for the 2012 year.
