LIANZA Strategic Plan 2011-2014

Council is delighted to provide an updated version of LIANZA's Strategic Plan covering the period 2011-2014.   The plan provides Council and the Association with a focus to ensure our energy and resources are channelled where they are deemed to be most effective.  A strategic plan is only as good as its execution. Council use the plan as a working document during the year and then begin the review process in June of each year.

Council are your elected representatives and the make-up of Council usually covers most sectors.  Council is not LIANZA.  LIANZA is made up of all its personal and institutional members. Through its regional and special interest group framework it aims to provide a collegial network that is inclusive, advocates for and develops the profession for each and every member.

Council would like to encourage SIGs and Regions to participate more actively in shaping its future strategic planning.  If you have issues or ideas you think your Association could be working on, we want to hear about them.  The best way to do this is to write a short paper which should articulate what the issue or idea is, and what outcome you would like.  Give some consideration as to whether your idea will require funding and or membership time to achieve.  Is your idea relative to the strategic direction already identified?  If not, tell us why you think this issue should be a priority.  Papers can come from individuals, organisations, your Region or SIG and can be directed through your regional councillor, SIG portfolio holder or sent directly to the Executive Director for inclusion in Council’s meeting agenda.

Earlier this year Hikuwai Region undertook some work to identify what other associations are doing in the area of advocacy and to identify what LIANZA could do to leverage off what is out there, to develop our own expertise and to increase the effectiveness of advocacy activity.  This paper is available on the LIANZA website here.
