LIANZA Continuing Professional Development – Proposed Calendar Of Events For 2012

I am delighted to present the proposed calendar of LIANZA Continuing Professional Development events for 2012.

Keep an eye on the e-lists next year for more information.  Members will receive direct emails.

The list below summarises the details of each course including an indication of timing and cost where possible.  Please note that the cost is indicative only.

The choice of courses offered was determined by your feedback.
ALIA will be offering a number of online courses again next year, one of which they are creating specifically in response to our need for a course around online searching skills.  This is being scheduled for May 2012.

Wherever possible the presenters will try to ensure that the proposed courses are applicable to all sectors of the library and information management profession in New Zealand — public, special, school and academic.  If this is not the case, the particular sector the course relates to is clearly indicated.

Events will be held around the country depending on where the break even number is met.  Remember that if you live outside the main centres and want a particular event to come to you, use your professional networks to gather enough interest to meet the break even number (or close to it) and I will do all that I can to get the course to you.

It’s been great this year to again have so many libraries volunteer to host LIANZA CPD events.  Not having to pay for the hire of a venue means that the registration fee is reduced for everyone.  Being the host library does involve some administrative responsibilities such as setting up the room and, if there is no on-site caterer, providing tea and coffee.  However it also entitles your organisation to one free place on the course.  If you think that you can assist by hosting a CPD event, please contact me:
