International Interloans

Aotearoa New Zealand libraries are expected to request and supply international interloans in accordance with the principles established in the International lending and document delivery: principles and guidelines for procedure produced by IFLA.

Interloans between New Zealand and Australia

International Interloans between Australia and New Zealand are supported by Trans Tasman Interlending, a gateway that enables libraries that are members of Te Puna Interloan or Libraries Australia Document Delivery Service to seamlessly supply each other.

Interloans between New Zealand and other countries

As New Zealand does not have a national centre for interlibrary loans and document deliveries, libraries in Aotearoa New Zealand are free to send international interloan requests to overseas libraries and to respond directly to any international interloan requests they receive.

Overseas libraries

Overseas libraries should use OCLC's WorldCat to identify an Aotearoa New Zealand library holding the item they require. They then interloan the item directly from the holding library.

Names and addresses of New Zealand libraries can be found in the Directory of New Zealand Libraries.

If you're unsure which Aotearoa New Zealand library holds the item you require, you can submit their international interloan request to:
