Call for Abstracts
E ngā mana, e ngā reo, e ngā karangatanga maha o ngā hau e whā, nau mai, piki mai, haere mai. Ki te hononga ngā waka e tātou kia whakanui ai ngā mea katoa. Nō reira, ehara taku toa i te toa takitahi, engari he toa takimano. Nō reira, tēnā koutou, tēnā koutou, tēnā koutou katoa. All authorities, all voices, all the many alliances and affiliations, come, ascend, welcome. If we join our vessels we can celebrate everything. Therefore, it is not through my strength alone but that of the many. Greetings thrice over.
Important dates2 May 2008 Abstracts for papers due to Programme Committee 30 June 2008 Notification of acceptance 14 July 2008 Confirmation of format of presentation 12 September 2008 Completed papers due to Programme Committee About the programmeThe conference programme must inspire the profession, influence decision-makers, and excite change. "Outside the Box" and "Poropitia" both carry connotations of being "out there", of services that are not constrained by the boundaries of how things have always been done. Participants are asked to think creatively about fresh approaches to making their presentations. One opportunity at LIANZA Conference 2008 is to offer an interactive session in the computer suite. These sessions will accommodate an audience of about 20 people. There are 45 minutes and 60 minute options. Oral presentations will be 45 minutes long. Sessions will consist of an introduction by the session chair, the presentation of 20-25 minutes, and then questions and discussion. If more than one person is presenting, still allow 15 minutes for audience involvement. Increasing the time available for audience participation is a deliberate move to engage people in the programme and to enrich the conference experience for presenters and audiences alike. SIG presentations are a new format. These slots are designed so that a special interest group can chair and host sessions on topics of particular interest to its members. The submission and acceptance process is the same as for other sessions, and SIG presentations will feature in the programme and be open to anyone who has registered for the conference. Panel sessions and workshops are 60 minutes long. Again, they are intended to be participatory. Presenters should ensure that they allow sufficient time for the audience to hear something new, connect with it, and have a chance to respond.
Submitted abstractsThe deadline for submission was 2 May 2008.
Authors of accepted abstracts are expected to attend the conference to present and will receive confirmation of the format for their presentation. People offering an oral presentation or SIG presentation must submit a written paper which will be published on the LIANZA web site after the Conference. Presenters of workshops and interactive computer sessions are encouraged to submit a written paper or equivalent - please indicate your intention at the end of your abstract. Once submitted, all written papers will be read by the reviewers so that presenters receive feedback and advice before presenting. The deadline for submission of completed papers is 12 September 2008.
Selection criteriaThe Programme Committee and selected reviewers evaluated the content of abstracts for relevance to the conference themes, clarity, originality, and timeliness. Authors of accepted papers will be able to include some additional tags or keywords on their completed paper. These tags will further help conference attendees make their session choices.
Thank you for your interestKia ora! A big thank you in advance to everyone who submited an abstract for consideration. The conference organisers acknowledge and appreciate the work involved in preparing and in presenting on the day. The 2008 LIANZA Conference is a time for asking questions, sharing expertise, and extending our thinking. The willingness of people to propose interesting and innovative presentations is a big part of the conference's success. Nō reira, e ngā rangatira, ma pango, ma whero, ka oti te mahi, no reira, tēnā koutou, tēnā koutou, tēnā tatou katoa. Therefore through the united labour of chiefs and their followers can the task be accomplished. Greetings to all.
