It has been hailed as the “Hub of SFU Life” for its unique service offerings, technological innovation, and active participation in the communities it serves.

Due to the retirement of the current Dean, an opportunity now exists for the right individual to become the new Dean, Library Services & University Librarian and provide overall management of the SFU Library.

Reporting to the Vice President, Research, and working closely with the Senate Library Committee, the new Dean’s mandate is to develop and administer procedures to ensure a high level of service to the community of library users, in support of their research and learning needs. In fulfilling the duties of this role, he/ she is responsible for the management and development of the Library’s collections; the provision of library services; the allocation and control of the Library’s budget; the planning and implementation of automation and computer-based information systems; the direction and development of staff resources; the planning of future library services; and the Library’s participation in regional, national and international co-operative projects.

As the new Dean, Library Services & University Librarian you have a proven track record as a University Librarian, Associate University Librarian, or experience as a Librarian heading a branch library or library division at a university library. You are a strategic thinker and a leader who values and supports employee and organization development. An excellent communicator and relationship builder, you will champion the enhancement of a positive learning environment at SFU.
