Teens Librarian

We are looking for someone with a positive and outgoing personality who can relate to the 12 – 18 year old age group and who has the patience and enthusiasm to continue to develop a special relationship with the youth of Rotorua.

Skills will be required to plan the space and the collections for the Teens Library, organise and create displays, plan and manage events and liaise with schools and community groups. A relevant tertiary qualification and a well-rounded knowledge of young adult literature is important for this position.

In addition, the successful applicant will be required to perform general library duties which will include rostered desk shifts, shelving and shift supervision. Hours will include evening and weekend shifts.

This service-focused position requires someone with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, professional integrity, the ability to remain calm under pressure and to work as part of a larger team. A good sense of humour would also be a plus!
