Thanks And Well Done!

Every day I see some simply amazing resource and knowledge sharing going on. At work. On List-servs. On Twitter. At conferences... well that one doesn't happen every day, but I can say a round of applause in gratitude must go to conference organisers for this year's conference. The centennial event - the place to be if you're a Library or Information worker in New Zealand or Australia.

I wasn't even there, but I participated in the Centennial conference through a bit of networking, cajoling, and an overriding sense of being one in the community.  Some technology also helped (thank you wifi and Aotearoa Peoples Network). I too felt the love in the room for Penny Carnaby for serving (and championing) us as National and Chief Librarian for the past 10 years.  Thank you Penny.

Thanks must also go to Paul Hayton, electronic services librarian at Dunedin Public Libraries for coordinating a CoveritLive feed of the conference Twitter hashtag's #lianza10 and #lianza2010.
I honestly, felt truly connected 800km's or so away in Wellington. Conveniently Monday and Tuesday were my days off work so I could follow and interact with the people at the conference to my hearts content.

All in all, I have to say, "Well done team!" Your efforts and successes are well celebrated in this tight-nit community of Aotearoa.
Thank you.

Hana

Thanx from me too, the nostalgia was palpable and deservedly so for a Centennial. The quarters were cramped but in the end that just added to the intimacy, as participants (we really didn't feel like vendors!) we revelled in the quality of the presentations and the wonderful "connectivity" engendered in the networking sessions.
That takes the right approach by the delegates/attendees but is also the reward for the considerable hard work and planning of the local Conference Organising Ctte and the professional organisers. Once again Dunedin's citizens and it's University do the city proud! I'll be keeping and using my smart Conference bag for a long time as a lovely memento of that event... good choice organising ctte AND LIANZA Office team.
Now, where's the centenary book for us to sign - can we do that electronically in this modern age?
