LIANZA Children's Book Awards

2013 LIANZA Children's Book Awards logo

Submissions are now open for the 2013 LIANZA Children's Book Awards. These medals and pounamu are awarded by librarians for outstanding children's books by New Zealand authors and illustrators.

The LIANZA Junior Fiction Award - Esther Glen Medal recognises a distinguished contribution to literature for children aged 0-15 years.

The LIANZA Young Adult Fiction Award recognises a distinguished contribution to literature for children and young adults aged 13 years and above.

The LIANZA Illustration Award - Russell Clark Medal is awarded for the most distinguished pictures or illustrations for a children's book.

The LIANZA Non Fiction Award - Elsie Locke Medal recognises a distinguished contribution to non-fiction for young people.

The Te Kura Pounamu (te reo Māori) is awarded to the author of a book which makes a distinguished contribution to literature for children or young people written in Te Reo Māori and promotes excellence of library resources in Māori.

The Librarians' Choice medal is awarded to the most popular finalist, as voted by LIANZA members.
