Ikaroa Regional Award - Louise Robbie

The purpose of the Ikaroa Regional Award is to recognise the contributions that have been made to Librarianship by Region members, and for the Region and its membership.

Louise Robbie is Librarian at Manawatu College Foxton, and serves on the LIANZA Ikaroa Region Committee. She is also on the national executive of SLANZA. She has encouraged school librarians in the region to participate in LIANZA/SLANZA activities, and to engage in professional development.

On presenting this award to Louise Robbie, Regional Chair Wendy Macaskill commented on Louise’s drive and enthusiasm and her professionalism as a librarian. Her energy is an inspiration to all.

The citation reads:

"Awarded to Louise Robbie for service to the library professional through raising the profile of the library at Manawatu College by introducing innovative programmes to develop information skills and also by modeling professional librarianship with enthusiasm and determination".

Previous awards have been made to:

  • Steven Northover for his contribution to the work of the JSCI (Joint Standing Committee on Interloan).
  • Anthony Lewis and the Palmerston North City Libraries for their new building and new approach to organisation of collections.
  • Helen Renwick (formerly University Librarian at Massey University Library) for her support to LIANZA and her active encouragement of staff engaging in professional development.
