This group was formed in 1999 in response to the dissatisfaction with Te Puna and the National Library Service, with a view to:

  • informing National Library of concerns
  • problem solving
  • information sharing
  • providing support for colleagues.

13. October 2004, Christchurch City Libraries

There were three items on the agenda:

  • The ongoing management of the Canterbury West Coast Cooperative Agreement. Carol Saysell (CT) was thanked in her absence for all the work that she had done in establishing this agreement.
  • A report back on the Interloans Symposium given at the LIANZA 2004 Conference; by Janice Farrelly (CU) and Sue Colyer (LIU and tertiary representative on the JSCI, with Tanya Webster (LIPL) and Shona McCartin (LIU). Papers and tapes are available on interloan, free of charge, from CU. This resource, which also includes audio tapes of five of the six papers, is catalogued in Te Puna as "Papers from Innovation in interlibrary loans : concurrent session one : presented at the LIANZA Conference 2004 : Made in Aotearoa, 5-8 September, Auckland".
  • An update on the preparation of the Best Practices Interloans Workshop; by Janice Farrelly (CU). The other Aoraki member of the national Working Party for the preparation of this workshop, Megan Gee (CWA), was unable to be present. This workshop is sponsored by the JSCI, with Ann Barrie (WN) as convenor. The workshop (which is not a Te Puna workshop) will be offered nationally in April 2005.

 

12. April 2004, NIWA Christchurch Library

  • The final draft of the Guidelines for cataloguing e-resources on the NBD was presented to the meeting by Janice Farrelly and Peter Hoskings (Interloans Librarian and Serials from CU and both members of the National Working Party).
  • Acknowledgement was also given to the third Aoraki member on the National Working Party - Andrew White (Information Technology Librarian, LIU).
  • The meeting also included a report back from Sue Colyer the tertiary representative on the JSCI, and discussion on the 1997 Canterbury Co-operative Agreement.

 

11. November 2003, College of Education Library

  • Report back from the 8th Interlending and Document Supply International Biennial Conference, held in Canberra in October 2003, by the five Aoraki Interloans Users Group delegates.
  • This report back also included a presentation by the authors, Shona McCartin (LIU) and David Reid (WN), of their paper End-user intitiated interloans - placebo or panacea?
  • The meeting also included a brief reports from David on the recent inaugural Te Puna Users Group meeting held in Wellington, and from Janice Farrelly (CU) on progress on the New Zealand guidelines for cataloguing electronic resources on the NBD.
